The Program

SPRINGBOARDNYC is a two week concentrated pre-professional training course for college students planning careers in the theatre. We provide the job-seeking skills, insight into the business of theatre and the urban survival tools necessary to translate academic training into a productive career. The curriculum includes a series of workshops, seminars, master classes and field trips, placing participants in the center of New York's theatrical community, with access to influential working artists. SpringboardNYC was created and developed by Randy Ellen Lutterman while she served as Executive Director of Musical Theatre Works. The American Theatre Wing has been the proud home of the program since 2005.

Past Mentors
SpringboardNYC mentors are a group of generous, talented, influential gifted working artists drawn from our community. We are privileged to work with them. Click here for complete list.

Schedule of Events:
In order to provide SpringboardNYC students with access to the finest working artists and professionals throughout the program, schedules change and are refined up to the last moment. For an example of a "typical" SpringboardNYC experience, see the schedule >>

Program Costs:
2013 Program Fee is $1,800 ($15.00 application fee for all applicants + $1785 tuition fee for accepted students only.). Need-based scholarships are available.

Program fee covers a two-week, jam-packed schedule of workshops, master classes, seminars, "meet & greets," and field trips as well as a two-week unlimited Metrocard (public transportation pass). Also includes the purchase of tickets to 5-7 Broadway and/or off-Broadway shows and/or special events, including the dress rehearsal for The Tony Awards. Special Question and Answer "talkbacks" with cast members will be held after many shows.

Scholarships for SpringboardNYC are made possible, in part, by a grant from the Michael Stewart Foundation. A limited number of Michael Stewart Scholarships are awarded each year to select Springboard students demonstrating financial need.
