Regina Taylor
REGINA TAYLOR recently wrote and directed Crowns, which was produced at the McCarter Theatre and subsequently at Second Stage in New York. She is an Artistic Associate at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago where she recently produced Drowning Crow, her adaptation of Chekhov’s The Seagull, which premieres at Manhattan Theatre Clubs Biltmore Theater on Broadway this season. Her other upcoming projects include the book for the musical of The Color Purple (planned for Broadway), as well as an adaptation of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard for the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. Additionally, Ms. Taylor has worked on The Ties that Bind at Alliance, Oo-Bla-Dee at the Goodman Theatre (2000 American Theatre Critics/Steinberg New Play Award), Urban Zulu Mambo, Escape from Paradise, a one-woman show adapted from her play Jennines Diary, Watermelon Rinds, Inside the Belly of the Beast, A Night in Tunisia, Mudtracks, Between the Lines and Behind Every Good Man. Ms. Taylors acting credits include roles on Broadway, off-Broadway and in numerous regional theatres, as well as the films Clockers, Losing Isaiah, Lean on Me, A Family Thing, Courage Under Fire with Denzel Washington and The Negotiator with Samuel L. Jackson.
