JOANNA SHEEHAN currently works with the American Theatre Wing as the Management Associate, coordinating the grants and education programs. She manages The Jonathan Larson Grants, The National Theatre Company Grants, The Theatre Intern Group, and SpringboardNYC, among other initiatives. A 2008 graduate of Columbia University's Masters Program in Arts Administration, she received a 2007-2008 Arts and Humanities Research Fellowship from the University for her work in the field, and served as Vice President of the Student Advocates for the Arts, a group of young arts lobbyists. Joanna proudly serves as a board member for Team Supersnack(a philanthropic organization that funds AIDS research) and consults for other small organizations looking to professionalize their fundraising efforts. Joanna has spent much of her career in education. She has served as a teaching artist with InteractStoryTheatre, Culture Vultures, and the 21st Century Project, toured as a docent for the Muscarelle Museum of Art, and worked in the shadow of Capitol Hill for four years as the Project Manager in Education with the Transportation Intermediaries Association, managing continuing education in the third-party logistics industry. Her brief memoir of life so far is included in NOT QUITE WHAT I WAS PLANNING: Six-Word Memoirs By Writers Famous and Obscure (Harper Perennial: 2008). ). Joanna is also an improvisational and variety performer, an accomplished stilt-walker, and a mediocre fire-eater. She currently lives in Brooklyn, but thinks that when she squints, the Hudson River looks a little like the Chesapeake Bay where she grew up.
